BULVERDE — Bekah Wilks and Maddy Hanson made it look routine. Early in Monday’s match at Bracken Christian, the two connected on a right-side slide that Hanson powered into the Warriors’ floor.

The reason it looked routine is because Wilks has done it thousands of times. Literally, thousands. Two thousand to be exact, on that moment in Bulverde.

It was just the fourth of 28 assists for the Patriots’ captain on the evening, enough to power FEAST to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 win over their hosts. Wilks career total is now 2,024.

The bulk of her work was accomplished during her time at San Antonio Christian School. Wilks was a three-year letterwinner for the Lions before opting to homeschool for her senior year. She recorded just 38 assists as a freshman before exploding for 726 during the Lions’ run to the 2019 state title match.

In the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, she added 481 to her tally, giving her a lofty 1245 career assists when she came to FEAST.

This season, as the primary setter in the Patriots’ 5-1 offense, it did not take Wilks long to pile on to that total. She boasts a career-high 779 assists this year and has an outside shot at getting to 1000 before the end of the national tournament.
