Hawkins receives 2021 Milner Award
12 Nov 2021 by Kevin Force
Jaidah Hawkins has been chosen as the 2021 recipient of the Phoenix Milner Award for excellence in leadership.
Hawkins, a sophomore on the Patriots’ JV squad, was revealed as the winner at the program’s season-ending awards banquet at Oak Ridge Baptist Church on Thursday night. She was one of four finalists, alongside Katie Braymer, Anna Dawson, and Emory Davey.
Phoenix Milner was a FEAST volleyball and basketball player who tragically lost her life in a car accident on May 23, 2020. She was an incredibly special person who touched the lives of everybody in the program. She was a vocal leader, a tireless worker, a stranger to none and a friend to all. She was the prime example of what it meant to truly love others unconditionally and she set a classic example of what it means to be a Patriot.
In her honor, the FEAST Patriot Volleyball program introduced the Phoenix Milner Award. Recognized as the most prestigious honor in the program, this award is awarded annually to the one player, of any age, in the program who demonstrates the very highest example of leadership on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
The recipient is chosen by a vote of the program’s players and coaches.
A fourth-year player in the program, Hawkins was presented the award by Addie Force, last year’s award recipient.
