Phoenix Milner was a FEAST volleyball and basketball player who tragically lost her life in a car accident on May 23, 2020. She was an incredibly special person who touched the lives of everybody in the program. She was a vocal leader, a tireless worker, a stranger to none, and a friend to all. She set a classic example of what it means to be a leader and a Patriot.
Although her contribution to the Patriots' program was short, it was sincerely impactful. As a result, the organization chose to retire a player’s jersey for the first time in its history during its Senior Night ceremony on October 15, 2021. Phoenix would have been among the seniors who played their last career home matches that evening. Her jersey was framed within a shadow box and will remain on display at the FEAST Resource Center for posterity.
Furthermore, in her honor, the program conceived the Phoenix Milner Award. This award has become recognized as the most prestigious honor in the program and is awarded annually to the one player, of any age, in the program who demonstrates the very highest example of leadership on the court, in the classroom and in the community. The recipient is chosen by the players and coaches and announced at the year-end awards banquet.
